Not only could this happen but should if the republicans were smart (debatable). Obviously, their campaign of hate cannot continue indefinitely and as younger generations, that are overwhelmingly pro gay-rights, mature and become voters they’re going to have to change their tactics.
It is really too bad the dems aren’t taking advantage of this situation and being out in front on this issue. Why not call out the bigots on the right? Why not call them that on the floor of the house and the senate? Why not put it in every TV ad? Because the dems are afraid; they’re always afraid. This is why Obama supported gay marriage in 1996 but now says that he doesn’t. Because he thinks it will take away votes… idiot… you weren’t going to get those bigots votes anyway.
